Social Norms: It would be helpful to familiarize yourself with a few basic Bulgarian phrases. Dress should be conservative but casual. If invited to a home, a small souvenir from one’s homeland is an acceptable gift, and something for their children is always welcome. Also, remember that a nod of the head means ‘No’, while a shake means ‘Yes’.

Vaccinations: Hepatitis A & B vaccinations are recommended for all travelers. Typhoid vaccine recommended for travelers who may eat or drink outside major restaurants and hotels. Two doses of MMR vaccinations are recommended for travelers born after 1956 if not previously taken. Rabies vaccination maybe required depending on your trip activities.
