Brief

Step back in time and marvel at the impressive accomplishments of the Ancient Greek civilization on this historic week-long tour of Greece with none other than SuperCoucou! Showing you all the best sites of Ancient Greece, this tour is sure to tickle any history buff's fancy! Taking you to the bustling Greek capital of Athens,  you will make your way to the city of Epidaurus, the archaeological sites of Mycenae, Olympia and the ancient town of Delphi, visiting temples and sites that have stood the test of time. You will also go on a relaxing day cruise to Aegina, Poros and Hydra, and by the time you're back in Athens, you will end this trip wishing to have lived amongst the great Ancient Greeks!

Day 1

Athens

Welcome to Athens! Upon arrival, a SuperCoucou representative will greet you at the airport for your transfer to the hotel. After checking in, you will have the rest of the day at leisure in the Ancient Greek capital.

Day 2

Athens

After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will go on a city tour to see the most important monuments and landmarks of Athens. First, you will see the Panathinaikos stadium, the Zappeion, the temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, Syntagma Square, the Parliament, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann's House, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and the old Parliament. Next, you will visit the Acropolis, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion. The last leg of your tour will include a guided visit to the Acropolis museum, voted one of the best museums in the world. The rest of your afternoon will be at leisure to explore Plaka, the picturesque old part of the city, maybe grab a bite to eat or even go shopping at Ermou Street.

Day 3

Athens – Olympia

On this day, you will head to the city of Epidaurus, stopping at the impressive Corinth Canal on the way. At Epidaurus, you will visit its theater, which is known for its impressive acoustics. Your day will continue as you head to the seaport town of Nafplion for a quick stop. Your next visit will be the archaeological site of Mycenae, the Cyclopean walls and the tombs of Agamemnon and its famous Lion’s Gate. In the afternoon, you will cross over the mountains in the Peloponnese Peninsula to arrive in Olympia for your check-in and a delicious dinner.

Day 4

Olympia – Delphi

This morning, your tour of Olympia begins! Starting with the remains of the ancient Olympia Complex – home to the original Olympics – you will see the Temple of Zeus, the Palaestra, and Phidias’s Workshop. Afterwards, you will go the local museum where you will see the statue of Hermes of Praxiteles. In the afternoon, you will head to the ancient town of Delphi for your overnight stay.

Day 5

Delphi – Athens

Delphi used to be one of the most sacred spots in the world and a pilgrimage center for many centuries. Here, you will admire the Sanctuary of Apollo, walk the Sacred Way, visit the Temple of Apollo and the local museum. In the afternoon, you will head back to Athens.

Day 6

Athens

This morning you will be transferred to Trokadero port for a day cruise to the striking Saronic Gulf islands. Your first stop will be Hydra, a picturesque little island well-known to the international jet-set community for its vehicle-free policy. Here, you’ll have some free time to take a donkey ride, explore the little cobble-stoned streets and visit the Metropolis at your own pace. Next up is the island of Poros with its clock tower facing the Peloponnese. Finally, you will go to the island of Aegina, a weekend retreat for many Athenians that’s famous for its pistachio production. There will be some time at leisure to explore this beautiful island so you could enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride or go on an optional visit to the temple of Afea. After working up an appetite, a mouthwatering buffet lunch will be served on board, and on the way back to the Greek capital, you will get a taste of Greek culture as you listen to some traditional music and maybe even learn how locals dance!

Day 7

Athens

Time to say goodbye! After a tasty breakfast and check-out formalities at your hotel, depending on your departure flight, you might have some time at leisure to take in the views or do some last-minute shopping. Then you will be transferred to the airport for your flight out. We hope you enjoyed your vacation!
