Essential Greece with Mykonos

From Athens to Mykonos and back, enjoy this 11-day odyssey across Greece. On this journey, you will be able to see such historical and cultural monuments as the Palace of Knossos, the Panagia Kera Church and the Island-Citadel Spinalonga.

Day 1

Arrival in Athens and transfer to the hotel. At night, we include a transfer to the area of Plaka, a section of Athens full of small Greek taverns where you can enjoy the rich folklore of this country.

Day 2

Athens - Rhodes
In the morning, go on a sightseeing tour of Athens. You will discover the modern city, the Panathinaikos Stadium and the Royal Palace. Spend the rest of the day at leisure until it is time to transfer to the port of Piraeus to board the overnight ferry, which has similar facilities to those available on cruise ships. Accommodation in a double cabin, where you will spend the night.
Note: If the number of participants is very limited, a ¨Hop on–Hop off¨ bus ticket may be provided in the city instead of the morning tour

Day 3

Your ship will arrive in Rhodes early in the morning. We will include a tour of the city, with its impressive walled citadel and its old town that shows the traces of the different cultures (Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Knights of Saint John, Ottomans, Italians, etc.) that have lived there. Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 4

Your tour will include an excursion to discover the island of Rhodes. You will travel to Petaloudes, ¨The Valley of the Butterflies¨. From the church of Moni Panagias which has impressive views, you will begin a pleasant walk alongside the stream, which from June to September is visited by thousands of butterflies (entrance to the Natural Park included). After that, you'll travel to Lindos, whose medieval fortress and Greek Acropolis dominate the sea. You will be able to walk through the white and commercial streets of the center, relax on its beaches or climb up (by donkey, if you wish) to the Acropolis. After lunch, you'll return to Rhodes to spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Day 5

Rhodes - Chania
Early in the morning, you will travel to the airport. You will take a flight to the island of Crete. Arriving in Crete, you will travel along the coast towards the west of the island. You will reach Rethymno, a beautiful coastal city of Venetian origin dominated by a medieval castle. You will then go to Chania, a captivating city with an impressive fortress and stately mansions. This city was fought over by the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Genoese, Turks, Egyptians, and Greeks throughout its history. 
Note: The schedules of direct flights between Rhodes and Crete are limited and are subject to modifications. Sometimes the flight can be undertaken on the Thursday afternoon or it can be done with a stopover in Athens. There may also be some circumstances where the accommodation will be in Heraklion

Day 6

Chania - Heraklion
You will leave Chania, following along the coast towards the east of the island. You will visit the village of Kritsa, where you will find Panagia Kera, a church dating back to the 13th C with some of the best frescoes in Crete (entry tickets included). Afterwards, you will go to Agios Nikolaos. There will be time to walk around  on its natural harbor and have lunch. An outing round Elounda, a place that was a city-state and today is a beautiful tourist enclave. At this point, your trip will include a boat trip and tickets to the island citadel of Spinalonga, an old Venetian fortress that later became a leprosy colony. You will return by boat and continue to Heraklion.

Day 7

Go on an excursion to the Palace of Knossos (entry tickets and guided tour included), which will expose you to the Minoan culture that gave rise to Greek culture 4,000 years ago. Spend the afternoon at leisure in Heraklion, the lively and pleasant capital of Crete.

Day 8

Heraklion - Santorini

Early transfer to the port. You will embark on a fast ferry to the island of Santorini, arriving at about 11:00. You will travel by bus through beautiful landscapes to Oia, which is without a doubt the most spectacular settlement on the island: white streets full of life, immense views from the cliffs and the remains of and windmills and a castle. There’ll be time to walk and have lunch. After that you will get to know Thira, the capital of the island. Optionally, you can sail to the thermal waters and watch the sunset from an ancient and classical Mediterranean boat or make a panoramic tour of the island with a tasting of Santorini wines.

Day 9

Santorini - Mykonos

After breakfast, you will take the ferry to Mykonos. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. According to mythology it was on this island that there was the battle between Zeus and the giants. Rest of the day free to wander in the little streets, to visit the little Venice and to visit the classical windmills.

Day 10


Free day to enjoy the island. We recommend visiting the island of Delos, the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis and one of the most sacred places of ancient Greece, or simply visit the famous Paradise and Super Paradise beaches.

Day 11


At the indicated time, transfer to the port to embark on the ferry boat to Athens. Arrival to the port of Piraeus at night (around 23:00).
