Istanbul, Cappadocia and the Black Sea

Enjoy a full week exploring all the wonders that Turkey has to offer. You will be exploring the capital, Istanbul, as well as Cappadocia and Safranbolu with all their diverse landscapes and cultures. 

Day 1


After arrival and transfer to hotel, you will have some free time. You may choose to explore the city on your own. 

Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 2


A sightseeing tour of the city takes you to the Golden Horn, the fishing district, and Taksim. Enjoy viewing the Topkapi Palace and admire the exterior of Hagia Sophia. You will take a cable car up to the Pierre Loti viewpoint and explore the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent (the largest in Istanbul). In the afternoon, you will go to Taksim neighbourhood, the most commercialised and lively area of the city. There will be time to dine in one of its many restaurants, and you can also take the old tram that crosses the area or go to see the nearby Galata Tower.

Day 3


Today enjoy a boat trip on the Bosphorus that will last about two hours. The Bosphorus connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, which separates Istanbul into two parts: the European part and the Asian part. Pass under the two bridges that unite Europe and Asia and admire the palaces of the sultans, the typical wooden houses and the Ottoman villas. An optional tour including a visit and lunch inside the Topkapi Palace will be offered.

Day 4

Istanbul - Cappadocia

Enjoy a train ride to Ankara: the pleasant 4-hour trip takes you through Anatolian landscapes, arriving in Ankara. Afterwards, you will take a bus to the Mausoleum of Ataturk. After that, continue to Cappadocia making a stop at the Salt Lake before arriving in Avanos.

Day 5


Today you will discover the Goreme Valley with its open air museum and churches carved into the rocks. Visit the natural fortress of Uchisar and discover Kaimacli, an underground city that once housed 30,000 people. After that visit a region off the beaten track: Gumusler, an amazing underground monastery from 7C with, perhaps, the best Byzantine frescoes in Turkey. you will visit Nidge in the East before returning to your hotel in Avanos.

Day 6

Cappadocia - Safranbolu

Enjoy a fantastic day in the heart of Anatolia - please note that you need to dress modestly in respect to the pilgrims in the area. You will visit the sanctuary guards the tomb of Hacibecktas, a Sufi mystic of the 13C. After that, continue to Ankara, for free time to walk around and have lunch before continuing towards the North of Turkey. As the landscapes become greener, you will arrive in Safranbolu, a city declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city was once an important stop on the caravan routes. You will enjoy a traditional bath in a Hammam, for you to have a full Turkish experience!

Day 7

Safranbolu - Istanbul

Today, your trip follows the Black Sea and its verdant landscapes. In Gokgol Magarasi, you will enter this magnificent cave and get to see its underground river and multiple colours. In Eregli, next to the Black Sea, you will have some free time to have lunch. Afterwards, visit the impressive Cehennemagzi Magarasi caves and tombs that are rich in history. On your way back to Istanbul, stop to relax at Eydinpinar to enjoy a walk among its green paths to the waterfalls! You will arrive in Istanbul by the end of the day.
