Brief

Journey to Lebanon alongside a lively group on this shared tour and witness the remnants of its long, rich history. The trip begins at the capital, Beirut, before continuing on to Deir el Qamar, the previous capital, and Beiteddine, known for its gorgeous architecture. You will then have the option of either ascending to Jeita and Harissa, where you can see the statue of Our Lady of Lebanon, or you climb further through the mountains of north Lebanon where you can visit Becharreh and Qozhaya, two areas that have been essential to Lebanon’s literary growth. Then, you can either trek to Baalbeck, Anjar and Ksara, where you will be able to see temples and other sites from antiquity, or return to the times of the Phoenicians at Sideon, Echmoun and Tyre.

Day 1

Welcome to Beirut! Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport for your transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure,

Day 2

Beirut
You will go out for a visit of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, where you will take a stroll through the renovated Central District SOLIDERE. There you can contemplate the archaeological Phoenician sites, Roman baths, the historical churches and mosques, the Martyrs' Square, the famous Rocks of Rawché, and the National Museum. You will then head to the Chouf region 45km south-east of Beirut. You will visit the old typical village of Deir El-Qamar, which was the residence of Lebanese governors from the 16thC to the 18thC. Then proceed to visit the palace of Beiteddine, which is known as the Alhambra of Lebanon. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the Lebanese architecture from the 19thC, with a magical interior and exterior reminiscent of a tale out of One Thousand and One Nights.

Day 3

Beirut

You will have the option of going on one of two tours:

Byblos – Harissa – Grutas de Jeita: The day starts at Byblos, 37km north of Beirut. This Phoenician city-state was made famous due to the archeological excavations that revealed it to the world. You can enjoy the Phoenician archaeological site dating back to the third millennium, which includes temples, an amphitheater and tombs of its kings.
In the afternoon, continue towards Jounieh, north of Beirut, to take the cable car and climb up to the statue of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa. Up there, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the bay of Jounieh. Then proceed to visit the Grottoes of Jeita, a natural wonder formed by erosion over millions of years, a splendid spectacle that defies any description.

The Cedares – Bcharré – Qadisha Valley (Qozhaya): A full-day excursion dedicated to the northern Lebanese mountains. The tour begins in Becharré where you will visit the Museum of Gebran, dedicated to the famous Lebanese writer whose works were translated into more than eighty languages worldwide.
Continue towards the majestic forest Cedars of the Lord. You will go down through the sacred valley Qadisha to reach the Monastery of Qozhaya where the first print was made in the 16thC.

Day 4

Beirut
You will visit the South of Lebanon. At 45 km south of Beirut, you will reach Sidon, another famous Phoenician city, where you can see its Sea Castle dating back to the Crusaders in the early 12thC, the old traditional markets, the caravanserais, the Museum of Arabic Soap, and the public baths aka the Hammams. Then, a visit the Lady of Mnaytra, a shrine in Magdouche where the virgin used to wait for her son in a cave.
In the afternoon, about 40 km further south you will head towards the amazing Phoenician city of Tyre, Queen of the Seas, which enjoyed its heyday during the first millennium B.C. when its colonies spread across the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. A visit to its marine archaeological ruins (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO), where you can see the vast necropolis, the triumphal arch and the spectacular Roman hippodrome.

Beirut
You will be transferred from the hotel to the airport for the end of your trip.
